Media Hype

Media Hype
More than 48 hours passed since a famous film actor met with an accident in the state of Kerala. All types of media – numerous TV Channels, umpteen number of news papers, Radio Stations including that in the Middle East were busy with reporting the sensational news. An array of Doctors were in attendance for the single soul, conducting heated discussions,  having board meeting to discuss the situation, improvements etc. Reports were made of the family visiting the celebrity. Many were shocked, some saw dooms day for the film industry.
There were two passengers in the car – the celebrity and his driver. Only few words were there to report the state of the driver – that he had serious injuries and had fracture on the leg – that is all. Nothing else is mentioned – for he is no one according to the media.  What happened to him? What about his injuries, treatment? What about his family? None was keen to spend few seconds on him nor an iota of sympathy to the poor chap.
What harm it causes to report honestly – about the complete incidents?
Where are the genuine journalists; and an honest, compassionate media, media persons???
And this happens everywhere, every time. The unsung heroes are buried in the abysmal depth of oblivion

  1. Kudos for highlighting the plight of the lesser mortals, who are conveniently obscured and forgotten by the paparazzi. The general public are also to be blamed to a larger extent; caught in the melee of the rat race, they tend to lap up cheap page-3 gossip over socially relevant issues. Sadly, I see this tend prevalent and on the rise especially amongst the newer generation, who are on the constant lookout for instant gratification. I vehemently hope that the dawning of networking sites, with its ever increasing popularity and ample freedom of expression, can bring about the required turnabout towards ethical journalism, and awareness of socially relevant causes.
Looking forward to more of your interesting blogs in the days to come. As a fellow blogger, it invigorates my innate need to express my opinions on subjects of common interest.
